02/05/2016 Chiba, Chiba Port Arena ~ Jimmy Kanda Homecoming – 700 Attendance
1. Naruki Doi, YAMATO, Shingo Takagi{W} (13:30 Pumping Bomber) CIMA, El Lindaman, Kaito Ishida{L}
2. Shachihoko BOY (11:33 Referee Stop) Don Fujii

5. Masaaki Mochizuki, Jimmy Susumu{W}, Jimmy Kanda (14:57 Jumbo no Kachi!) Masato Yoshino, Akira Tozawa{L}, T-Hawk

CIMA & OVER GENERATION opened the show for the customary First Gong Kids. This time around it ended up being the niece and nephew of hometown hero Kanda. CIMA also talked about it being 8 months since their last time in Chiba. Since it was also a Friday night this will be an 8 Month Friday Special. He will talk until 8PM, or maybe there will be 8 Stalker Ichikawa matches where he loses in 8 seconds.

Fujii injured his knee during match two, leading to the match being stopped.

After several M2K chants during the main event, Horiguchi attempted to get another one going after their win. Mochizuki put a stop to it, noting that the real M2K is booed, not cheered. He actually was going to wear his Yokosuka Jumper for the match but he couldn’t find it in time. He also looked for a t-shirt but only found a Final M2K version. After the horrible results yesterday, his plans for today were also thwarted. Sucks.

Speaking of yesterday, the YASSHI thing. Unbelievable. But, it inspired Horiguchi. He admitted that the M2K reunion here was all his doing because he also had an unbelievable plan. He put together this M2K reunion because today would be the return to the DG ring for none other than………..Chocoball KOBE!!!!!
….
Ok, maybe not. However, Horiguchi did think about having Mochizuki join the Jimmyz. Mochizuki declined, seeing as how he was one of the first ones to be hellbent on breaking them up all those years ago. He didn’t fit the Jimmyz mood, anyway.

After some more banter, Kanda thanked his hometown fans for coming out, and the show ended with the old M2K entrance theme G.W.D. playing.

*Dia HEARTS must disband.

Verserk opened the show. Doi introduced them as the strongest and greatest unit in DRAGON GATE. told the fans that they were going to witness history. Today, either MONSTER EXPRESS or Dia HEARTS would be terminated. He wanted to say more but there really wasn’t much left for him so with great hesitation he e called out ME. Verserk were sure full of themselves. Tozawa warned them that they would be next after this unfortunate situation with ME is dealt with. Doi called DH out to respond to that. After some bickering, BxB Hulk made an appearance.
He was nervous. Even though he has been around this whole time, working at the various merchandise stands, this is his first time in the ring in some time. Giving speeches like this is his weak point, after all. In his absence, his beloved Dia HEARTS has come to be at stake in a match with MONSTER EXPRESS. He only has one thing to say about that. “WTF!?”. This was a high stakes match suitable to end a huge grudge. There sure wasn’t any of that here. What was this about? The units were the main selling point for DG fans. To lose one in such a poorly implemented manner isn’t fair. This isn’t right. Since Verserk caused this, so it is only fair that Verserk be put in the match too. This should be a three way. Doi wasn’t into that idea. Nope, nope, nope. This had nothing to do with Verserk! Besides, the entire card was booked. All of Verserk had matches. It can’t happen. Tozawa said this was pro wrestling, and wrestlers should all be ready to fight two, or even three times in one show. He polled the fans on whether Verserk should be put into the match. They resoundingly responded in the affirmative. Mochizuki brought up what Doi said back in Kyoto when the so-called Champions of Verserk beat Dia HEARTS in an 8 man. He called them weak and pathetic. Sure, it sucks to have to do two matches in one day, but surely Doi wasn’t scared of such a weak team? Doi relented and blamed all of this on the fans. The champions of Verserk quartet were added to the match.

Susumu celebrated picking up another skirmish victory over Takagi. He was amused at the thought that Verserk may not exist by the time they fight for the title. Either way, he would open the door to a new Dream on 02/14.

After the main, Doi took great satisfaction in the end of Dia HEARTS. Fair and square, they were DONE. However, MONSTER EXPRESS was still there. He put Yoshino in particular on notice that this fight was far from over. Takagi was in a rage. How dare some third rate garbage comedy wrestler like Shachihoko BOY pin the Dream Gate champion. The nerve. Two losses in one day. What bullshit this whole day was. This is where he normally would give BOY a singles match but that would be so one sided no one would pay to see it. MONSTER EXPRESS would be smashed to bits.
Tozawa said he wouldn’t be smashing anything. If he wants to bring the other Verserk weaklings into it they can go again. But…4 on 7…
Kzy spoke up. He lost today. DH is finished. That is over. But he is still alive and he still wants to fight. He offered to lend his power to ME for this proposed match. Shimizu echoed this sentiment. For the sake of taking down Verserk he would join too. Kzy asked Mochizuki & Kid to also join.

Mochizuki declined. This was a fight for the younger generation. This is their chance. He has some thinking to do. Kzy & Shimizu fought hard to the end. Pay Verserk back next month. He will decide his next step on his own. The fans pleaded with Mochizuki to continue the fight. He was thankful for their kindness. He was also grateful to everyone who supported Dia HEARTS. Next month, Kzy & Shimizu will be carrying the load on their backs, so he hopes those fans will continue to support them. He left the hall.

Dragon Kid was solemn. He will miss Dia HEARTS. He enjoyed his time with them and looked forward to each and every match they had together. Like Mocchy, he was grateful for the support they received. But also like Mocchy he had to spend some time thinking about where he would go next. He hoped fans would support him when that time comes. He left.

Tozawa was shocked at this turn of events and began to plead with Mochizuki to come back. They were still a man short to make it 7-7. Doi proposed that himself & YAMATO, along with Yoshino be taken out and the remaining fighters have a 5 on 5. But this sure left Yoshino in a precarious spot. Does he want to fight the Twin Gate champions 1 on 2? Yoshino admitted he didn’t have a partner….at least not now. To borrow a line from Doi, there were things going on behind the scenes that were unbelievable. Doi was irritated at Yoshino biting his catchphrase. Yoshino revealed his big surprise. Returning to the DRAGON GATE ring after 11 years…”brother” YASSHI. Since it has been a long time since YASSHI was here, an explanation was in order. He is a contemporary of both Yoshino & Shachi from the T2P era. Yoshino & Shachi went to fight on his 15th-anniversary show in Kyoto last weekend. He was Yoshinos’ original tag partner, and he was here to be his partner once again.

YASSHI greeted/introduced himself to the fans. The world of pro wrestling sure is a funny place. You never know what will happen. He was anxious and nervous. Anyway. These clowns. Berzerk? Verserk? Is that what they are called? YAMATO? Never met him before. Doi? Hasn’t heard from him in years. He remembers him as a second basement wearing white pants that looked like a big diaper. Now he was supposedly some big tough heel? If you say so. Doi demanded the match be set.

GM Yagi came out to make the match. He welcomed YASSHI home. However, before this match is made official he wanted to talk to YASSHI. His return today, much like his departure all those years ago, is not without controversy. Is he willing to accept this? YASSHI said that he would even shave his head to show he was willing to accept whatever will come. Yagi told him he could prove it next month in Korakuen where he will team with Yoshino vs. Doi & YAMATO. Doi warned him to be ready. He wasn’t that same white pants wearing Second Doi. This return wouldn’t be so sweet. Verserk departed.

MONSTER EXPRESS and the others introduced themselves. Tozawa noted that they have met before; when he was a trainee. They even had a few car rides together. But that is a long time ago so he should do a formal introduction. His name is Akira Tozawa, he is from Hyogo Prefecture and he is 30 years old. YASSHI introduced himself as a 7th term graduate from Kyoto. Shimizu introduced himself as Yuki Shimizu from Osaka, leading to Yoshino berating him for casually revealing his heretofore unpublished real name. BOY went next. Then came Kzy. He was hesitant. He introduced himself and admitted that he has heard that he resembles YASSHI from time to time. YASSHI recognized him as m.c.KZ from TV. He knows he can rap and loves hip hop so he is sure they will get along fine. T-Hawk also casually dropped his real name in his greeting, leading to much laughter.

Kzy & Shimizu closed the door on the Dia HEARTS era by once again thanking the fans for supporting them. Kzy was sorry it ended the way it did. He wasn’t there from the beginning, but he had some great times in his one year run with them. He fell in love with pro wrestling again. He apologized to Hulk for leaving him with no place to come home to. But they won’t stop moving forward. He hoped the fans would go along with them. Shimizu admitted this was all his fault. Sorry. Dia HEARTS was his first unit, and he will forever think they were the best one. Thank you.

Yoshino & the others closed out the show.

After their match, T-Hawk blamed Shimizu for this predicament. He was the one who blew up and accepted the match. Mochizuki pointed out that Shachi was just as guilty in that regard. Stop placing blame, and stop being scared. You can dwell on the negatives or you can dwell on the positives, but the match is gonna happen. He knows there are people who want Dia HEARTS to win, just like there are fans who will cheer to the end for MONSTER EXPRESS. It is a bad situation, but all he can do is protect his own unit. In March, Dia HEARTS will be the unit that returns to Osaka alive.

Doi demanded a more festive reaction from the fans, as they continue to put the Twin Gate title defense record out of reach. 9 defenses. YAMATO said wondered if there were any challengers left in DRAGON GATE to face them. Whoever it ends up being, their 10th defense will take place during CHAMPION GATE in Osaka in March. He passed to Takagi.

Takagi congratulated them for their defense. Now it was his turn. He called Susumu to the ring. He managed to get a fluke win today. Cool. Congratulations. Everyone knows it was a fluke. Was it worth it? His arm sure looks hurt. They will surely face off again a few more times before their title match. The rest of Susumus’ body will be broken down and useless by the time they get to Hakata. After Hakata, we probably won’t see him for awhile. The Jimmyz lost today, they will lose in Hakata. Fans should prepare themselves for a long run of VERZERK title defenses.

Susumu said a win was a win. He was the winner today. He talked about it being 10 years since his Dream Gate reign. He has tried and failed many times since then. It was right here in Osaka that he lost the title. The Susumu we see today is not the same Susumu. He will carry all of the emotions and troubles of the Jimmyz on his back into battle. At CHAMPION GATE he will be the one making the title defense.

Doi & YAMATO once again celebrated their title defense to close out the show.

OVER GENERATION opened the show with a New Year’s greeting. CIMA was greatly troubled by the news of the break-up of the legendary idol group SMAP that broke this morning. He felt old because Yamamura & Ishida were too young to remember when the group had six members. He & Gamma talked about the popular idols from their youth. He gave the honor of finding the child for the First Gong Kids to PT. He warned him that if he messed it up he would have to sing the SMAP song Sekai ni Hitotsu ake no Hana in front of everyone. Although he held the microphone to close to his mouth at first, he was able to do so without any errors.

Ichikawa went into his usual rematch pleading spiel. This was the first Korakuen of 2016, it can’t be over so quickly. He was cut off by Tozawa who said that Ichikawa knew damn well that no one in the hall thought the match was really over. The match was re-started.

Takagi & VERZERK took over the ring after the main event. Playtime was over. Takagi mocked Tozawa for his recent lack of importance. MONSTER EXPRESS? Team Best Friends? Fun pro wrestling? What a joke. Their time was up. Doi agreed. ME was built with foreigners at the center. With Uhaa & Ricochet not around anymore there just wasn’t anything monstrous about these clowns. And while on the topic of worthless units, there was Dia HEARTS. Both groups should just hurry up and disappear. By now, it was patently obvious what he was proposing. With the SMAP news this morning, the world was abuzz with talk of groups splitting up. ME & DH should have a unit disbands match.
Mochizuki declined. There was no particular grudge with ME. Besides, DH had to remain alive so Hulk has a place to come back to. Doi called BS on that excuse. Hulk should know better than anyone that time waits for no man in the DG ring.
T-Hawk said that since joining ME, he was finally enjoying pro wrestling again. He wasn’t ready to give that up. Why would they agree to have a unit disbands match so easily?
Shimizu, the 2016 Dia HEARTS spokesman, was quick to jump at the challenge. He would gladly do the match. T-Hawk said that was the voice of inexperience. He has never been in a unit disbands match so he can’t possibly understand how serious it is. He should take back what he said and decline the match.
Doi continued to press the issue, and preyed on Shachihoko BOYs’ insecurities. He called him baggage and said any unit with a guy like him is doomed to disband. Shachi snatched the microphone from him. He was holding the other members back. He really was baggage. But he wanted to prove himself. He asked the other members to fight with him. Tozawa got emotional. Shachi wasn’t baggage. He wasn’t holding anyone back. Without Shachi there is no MONSTER EXPRESS. It is either 4 members or no members. Everyone agreed to fight.
GM Yagi set the match. It will take place at the February Korakuen Hall show. It will be a 4 on 4 elimination match. Due to the serious nature of the stipulations, the match will take place under full conclusion rules. There will be no over the top rope eliminations. Pinfall or submissions only. Doi couldn’t contain his glee as VERZERK left ME to close the show.

Mochizuki was impressed by Shachi, and understood how he felt. However, don’t mistake that understanding for sympathy. Dia HEARTS had to be there for Hulk when he came back. They were going to win 4-0.

Yoshino hates those type of situations. Dark, gloomy. No fun. However, Shachi proved his manhood here today. They promised to protect MONSTER EXPRESS, and stand tall together again at the end of the next Korakuen.

Store Update

We have resumed business on the DG International Store.

For the time being, we will be continuing the practice of filling orders at the next Korakuen Hall show. However, orders will need to be placed at least 2 days before a show to ensure enough time for the information to filter down the chain of communication. Any orders placed from here on will be filled at the February Korakuen.

An unfortunate reality right now is, even though orders are passed to the company as I receive them, they do not receive priority over the merchandise stand at shows. So it is an entirely real possibility that an item will become sold out in the time between the order being placed and the next Korakuen Hall show. If this is the case, full refunds can be issued. I sincerely hope I can change this in the near future.

We’re trying the best we can. Thanks for your support.

Applications Open for the 2016 Class

Open recruitment for the 2016 trainee class is now open. DRAGON GATE will offer full support in your quest to become a pro wrestler. You could very well be the next ace of the company.

Applicants must be males between the age of 18-28. There is no restriction or requirement in regards to size or stature.

If accepted, the candidate will move into the DG dorm where they will receive full support and training in preparation for their debut. They will be given access to the dojo for weight lifting and will receive coaching from current members of the roster. There is no set time limit before they can make their in-ring debut. Like Takehiro Yamamura, Kaito Ishida, & El Lindaman are showing with their current activity as a part of OVER GENERATION, there are no limits or restrictions. If you show the ability and desire you can immediately become a part of the front lines.

There is also potential for interested trainees to spend time overseas to further enhance their skill sets. YAMATO to America, and the former Millennials to Mexico are examples of this.

You don’t need to abandon your dreams to be a pro wrestler due to your size or age. The concepts of “My body is too small” or “I am too short” or “I am too old” don’t exist in DRAGON GATE.

Interested applicants should send resume, full body & upper body photos, and introductory essay to

Dragon Gate Inc.
Attn: Rookie Recruitment
7-1-4 Kitanagasadori, Chuo-ku, Kobe-shi
Sanctuary Building 650-0012
Japan

The application deadline for the first round of applicants is February 15th. Successful applicants will be called in for interviews at the 3/2 Korakuen Hall and the 3/5 or 3/6 Osaka events. If interviews on those dates are not possible for a candidate, an interview at the next closest even is possible.

Foreign applicants, please note that all of this is done in Japanese, and candidates will need to be in the country for the interview process.

Mochizuki once again berated U-T for his lack of success. Perhaps he needed to lose to someone like Yamamura to light a fire under him. U-T said that losing to someone so early in their career really sucks. He has no unit, he keeps losing. He promised to turn things around and be a new wrestler in 2016.

Saito lost his temper after the main event, giving Kotoka the Double Cross and hitting him with a chair. Horiguchi calmed him down. VERZERK may have won against ME & DH, but the winners today were the Jimmyz. Sure, it was by a flash pin. A certain Dream Gate champion will probably bitch like a little girl about it just being a flash pin later. A win is a win. Takagi called them lukewarm at best yesterday. The 2016 Jimmyz will burn with the heat of a volcano. Saito called Kotoka a punk ass paper champion. An annoying little shit. He & Horiguchi wanted a Twin Gate title match. No excuses. Just accept. Horiguchi said that “No” was not an acceptable answer. The location would be close to Kobe. Next week in Osaka. The first title win of the year will be by the Jimmyz.
YAMATO said everything today was an accident. His shoulders accidentally were on the mat. They were accidentally still there when the three count happened. There would be no accidents next week in Osaka.

Takagi and Susumu had a back and forth. The champion carries the load. If he loses, he loses everything. The challenger has nothing to lose. In this case, Susumu did have a lot at risk. His head. Takagi was coming for it. Was he ready? Susumu vowed to show him how ready he was. He has tried and tried to once again be Dream Gate champion. He would show his resolve through his actions. By taking the title.

5. Jimmy Susumu{W}, Ryo “Jimmy” Saito (14:18 Jumbo no Kachi!gatame) Gamma, Punch Tominaga{L}
6. Champions of VERZERK vs. Dia.HEARTS: Shingo Takagi, Naruki Doi{W}, YAMATO, Kotoka (18:24 Bakatare Sliding Kick) Masaaki Mochizuki, Dragon Kid, Kzy{L}, Big R Shimizu

Doi demanded applause for their win. It was just as they promised. A total VERZERK victory. Dia HEARTS without Hulk were no kind of threat to anything. Yesterday it was MONSTER EXPRESS. Today it was Dia HEARTS. Tomorrow it would be the Jimmyz. He hoped they were watching, because this was a preview of their match. The Jimmyz were no longer needed in DG. This brought the Jimmyz out, but they took their time in doing so. Doi yelled at them for being so slow. They didn’t really need to be out here anyway. Tomorrow in Kobe they were going to lose. Saito asked the Kyoto fans to cheer for them tomorrow. Doi called him an idiot for saying that here, since the match wasn’t in Kyoto. They bantered for awhile until Saito put an end to the jokes. He passed to Susumu. He confronted Takagi. They haven’t had a match in a long time. In fact, their title match will be their first meeting since their series of matches in England. The last time he challenged Takagi for the title in 2008, he lost. The result this time would be very, very different.
Takagi was looking forward to finding out whether the Jumbo no Kachi! or the Pumping Bomber was superior. He was also looking forward to putting an end to the lukewarm Jimmyz. Beating Susumu will be the first step on the road to their demise.
Horiguchi said that as long as DRAGON GATE existed, the Jimmyz would exist.

6b. Champions of VERZERK vs. MONSTER EXPRESS: Shingo Takagi、Naruki Doi, YAMATO{W}, Kotoka (12:15 Gallaria) Masato Yoshino, Akira Tozawa, T-Hawk, Shachihoko BOY{L}

The non-VERZERK portion of the roster came to the ring for a New Year’s greeting. Susumu was selected to do the honours. He wished everyone a happy new year and thanked them for coming out in large numbers to the first show of the 2016 season. All the staff & wrestlers intended to make this year even more exciting than the last one, and asked everyone to come along for the ride.

Gamma & Yamamura celebrated the big upset over CIMA. This is exactly the kind of result OVER GENERATION was formed for. Yamamura said that he was planning on a big year. Not just for him, but for the entire unit.
CIMA lamented. After his loss in Fukuoka, he spent some time contemplating what kind of year 2016 would be for him. This was a wake-up call. He lost to Gamma all the time, but to lose to someone so early in their career was a bit shocking. But he accepted the loss. He asked the fans to support and enjoy OVER GENERATION in 2016.

Susumu spoke again after his win. He already said a lot in the opening greeting, but he neglected to mention something important. His title match on 02/14 in Hakata. He has challenged for the Dream Gate many times since his reign in 2006. He has failed in all of them. He watched Fujii, Mochizuki, and CIMA fall to Takagi. It made him think about his place as someone who has been around since the beginning of the company. The meaning isn’t lost on him. He will take the title from Takagi because he HAS to. He promised to have the title belt around his waist when they come back to Kyoto next month.

VERZERK quickly swarmed Shachi at the start of the match, allowing Takagi to put him away in a mere 3 minutes. Doi celebrated to a chorus of boos. Why were they booing? It was a fair & square, clean pin. Was it Stalker Ichikawa under that mask? Did Shachi still think he was on his New Year break? Doesn’t he understand this is the main event? The show is now over this early because of him.
Tozawa pleaded with them. This really sucks. They were totally right. He berated Shachi, trying to fire him up. He asked VERZERK for a restart.
Wow. Begging for restarts. They really were Stalker Ichikawa level. Doi wondered what Shachi was feeling, having to have his teammates stoop to such levels to cover for his failures. They can have their restart. It doesn’t matter how many matches they have. The result will be the same. Go ahead and ring the bell.

After winning again, Doi continued his taunts. After losing two times in one night on the first show, MONSTER EXPRESS should be eliminated completely from the unit battlefield for 2016. The Jimmyz & Dia HEARTS too. After getting swept in the Fukuoka title matches OVER GENERATION shouldn’t even in contention to begin with. VERZERK would assert their dominance by taking all three main event matches in this series.

Dia HEARTS came out. Shimizu told VERZERK they were successful in 2015, but that would all change in 2016. DH would go on the attack this year, and their first target is VERZERK in the main event tomorrow. That would put a stop to all of this. Mochizuki added that Shimizu would be getting more time as the DH spokesman this year.

YAMATO closed out the show, telling the fans to look forward to VERZERK being the coolest and sexiest unit again this year.

*3rd Defense

The contract signing for the main event was held after match two. CIMA talked about there being a big concert over in the nearby Yahoo Japan Dome. It was a pretty big deal so many Hakata natives were there. Those that didn’t go and instead came here came for one reason. To see CIMA win the Dream Gate. For their sake, and for the sake of DRAGON GATE history, he would fight to the death to win today. Just to make sure, he polled the crowd on who they wanted to see win. The answer was a resounding “CIMA”. He was going to win, and everyone knows why. Because he is CIMA.
Takagi noted this was the first time he would be facing CIMA as champion. He had great admiration for CIMA. He was the man who wrote DRAGON GATEs’ history. He has no choice but to erase that history today. Times have changed and it is out with the old. He would write a new legacy in his own image. To do that, he had to put an end to CIMA.

Stalker was costumed after Rickson Gracie, who faced Funaki in a famous Coliseum Rules fight many years back. After being beaten quickly he appealed for his usual rematch. Since Ichikawa had essentially zero chance under the special rules, Mochizuki asked Funaki to do the rematch under regular pro wrestling rules.

Doi ran down PT after their match. He was in over his head trying to fight at the championship level. Don’t even think about trying again. VERZERK were 2 for 2 so far. After Shingo wins and they take the Triangle Gate, Fukuoka would get a full VERZERK happy ending.

Takagi celebrated but lamented the lack of applause. Sorry CIMA. Your time is over. Just like Fujii, Gamma, & Mochizuki before him. The veterans have been vanquished. Well. There was Shisa. But that wasn’t going to happen. 2015 was over and now it was time to take out the trash. VERZERK would be steering the ship in 2016. They did their customary pose and were ready to end the show on the sourest of notes when Susumu hit the ring and laid Taagi out with the Jumbo no Kachi!
If you follow the timeline, after the veterans you would find his generation. Takagi claims to have no challengers left. Well. He was standing right there. He wanted a title match. In fact, he had been planning to come out to challenge CIMA because he was sure CIMA was going to win. He was the very first Dream Gate challenger for CIMA back in 2004 and again in 2012. He wanted to do so one more time. Even in defeat, he knew fans wanted to see CIMA close the show, so he passed the microphone to him.
CIMA had promised everyone a happy ending. Even with the fan support and tactical support from his veteran allies, he was still defeated. Takagi talked about spring cleaning and taking out the trash. Well. Maybe he was garbage by now. But there are many types of trash. Burnable, plastic, etc. Well. If you read his label it says “CIMA: Do not throw away”. He had hoped for a victory as a late Christmas present. It didn’t come, but he was saved by Susumu. Susumu had a birthday in February. You know what else is in February? A show in Hakata Star Lanes on the 14th. That is as good a place as any for him to get his Dream Gate title match. It was set. Susumu promised get into peak condition. 2016 will be 10 years since he was last Dream Gate champion, and he would end that drought on 02/14.
CIMA thanked the fans for their support in 2015, and promised to keep working hard to fulfill the dreams of the fans and children in 2016.
